TGI Fridays Set to Open New Location in Portmore
Portmore is set to welcome a new addition to its growing commercial landscape as Prestige Restaurants Jamaica Limited (PRJL), the operator of TGI Fridays in Jamaica, prepares to open a second location in the city.
The announcement was made recently, confirming that construction will begin soon, with the restaurant expected to open within the next four months. The new TGI Fridays will be located inside the Sunshine Mall on Braeton Parkway, an area quickly becoming one of Portmore’s busiest commercial districts.
This move reflects growing international interest in the municipality, which already boasts major brands like PriceSmart, Fontana, and Starbucks.
Melbourne Lyn-Cook, quality and maintenance engineer manager at TransJamaican Highway Limited (TJH), described the development as one that will “enhance the customer experience” for commuters and residents alike.
TGI Fridays has operated in Jamaica since 2004, with its first and currently only location on Hope Road in Kingston. The Portmore restaurant will become the second in the country and marks a significant milestone in the expansion of international dining options outside the capital.
The new location is expected to offer the same popular American-style dining experience that has made the brand a favorite among locals and visitors. With Portmore’s population continuing to grow and its infrastructure expanding, the addition of TGI Fridays is seen as a major boost to the city’s lifestyle and entertainment offerings.
Construction is set to begin later this year, and residents can expect the grand opening sometime in early 2025.
