Portmore Residents Call on JPS to Address Persistent Voltage Fluctuations
Residents across several Portmore communities in St. Catherine are urgently demanding answers from the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) regarding ongoing voltage fluctuations that have plagued the area for months.
According to information shared with Portmore Biz, the frequency of these power issues has intensified over the past two weeks, prompting frustrated residents to seek media attention.
The affected areas fall within the South East St. Catherine constituency and include communities such as Garveymeade, Bridgeport, and Waterford. Reports have also surfaced from Gregory Park in East Central St. Catherine.
Residents of Garveymeade, in particular, report that the fluctuations have severely disrupted productivity for those working from home and have caused damage to household appliances.
In response to the instability of the power supply, many residents have resorted to unplugging their appliances at night and whenever they leave home for long periods, fearing further damage.
